With greater funding, around-the-clock help for survivors of sexual violence and system-wide coordination of its response to sexual assault, UCSB’s differences from Cal Poly’s sexual assault response approach run deeper than just the numbers.
The last time anyone saw Kristin Smart was in 1996, when the then-Cal Poly freshman walked back toward her dorm after an off-campus party and mysteriously went missing.
“My first reaction is that (these statistics) give a false sense of what the reality is,” Safer coordinator Christina Kaviani said.
In the first annual Cal Poly Apparel Exchange, students can trade a t-shirt or sweatshirt from a different college in exchange for a brand new item of Cal Poly apparel. The event will take place during University Union Hour on Feb. 6.
The Cal Poly community will welcome one of the big names in sexuality theory Monday, as University of Michigan professor David Halperin visits San Luis Obispo to speak about sex, sexual orientation and his latest book, “How to Be Gay.”
