See, a huge number of companies make modest improvements in practices, but lobby all-out, in a variety of ways, to stall the adoption of higher standards, better land-use practices, green taxes or even health and safety regulations. And the impacts of those lobbying efforts usually far, far outweigh the good they claim to be doing with their pilot green efforts.

The No. 13 Cal Poly baseball team will host defending national champion Fresno State on Tuesday at Baggett Stadium. Fresno State shocked the world last year as the unheralded Bulldogs clawed their way to the College World Series championship.

The softball team swept UC Davis and in Sunday’s series-ending game, six players collected an RBI for the Mustangs who are 25 games above .500 for the first time in program history. The baseball team took two of three at UC Santa Barbara this weekend.

Barden heads to New York
Former Cal Poly wide receiver Ramses Barden was selected by the New York Giants in the third round of the NFL draft. Many draft pundits saw the Giants showing an interest in Barden, and New York certainly helped to prove that accurate, trading up with Philadelphia to the 85th pick in order to draft him.

Cal Poly’s defense gets the win in the final play of football’s Spring Game Saturday afternoon at Alex G. Spanos Stadium. The defense out-dueled the offense and won 29-28.

May registration system aims to help students
Fall registration for continuing students will begin May 6. Students will not pay fall registration fees until July, and class offerings are scheduled with the assumption that the College Based Fee increase will be implemented. Additionally, all incoming freshmen will be block scheduled for their first quarter at Cal Poly.
