Cal Poly football player Troy Bean was taken off the field on a stretcher midway through the third quarter of Saturday night’s game against Sacramento State.
The redshirt sophomore went to make a tackle on a rushing play with 11:26 left in the quarter, and was unable to stand without medical assistance following the play.
The game was stopped for roughly 15 minutes while the Cal Poly and Sacramento State medical staff tended to Bean on the 31-yard line.
Bean was taken to a hospital and was alert and able to move Saturday night, according to Cal Poly Athletics.
Bean, a Temecula, Calif. native, had started the game at linebacker and made four total tackles before the injury took place.
He has seen regular playing time on the Mustangs’ defense over the past two seasons.
