After clinching the eighth seed in the Big West Championship, the conference recognized senior guard Annika Shah and sophomore forward Mary Carter with end-of-season awards.
Shah made the All-Big West Second Team and Carter earned her way into the Big West Honorable Mentions.
Coming off a Big-West Honorable Mention of her own in the 2023-24 season, Shah stepped up this season. She led the Mustangs with 13.4 points-per-game, shooting at an elite level from the perimeter.
Shah led the Big West with 2.6 three-pointers per-game and 79 total three-pointers made, ranking second in three-point percentage at .397 and sixth in overall field goal percentage at .392.
She currently sits seven three-pointers away from Cal Poly’s all-time single-season record of 86.
Carter earned Honorable Mention after getting a spot on the All-Big West Freshmen Team last year.
Her series of stellar performances late in the season were pivotal in securing the No. 8 seed in the Big West Championships. She scored 23, 17, and a career-high 27 points in the final three games of the season.
With her late surge, Carter averaged 13.1 points-per-game this season, just behind Shah and second-highest on the team.
Carter also shot at an elite level, ranking No. 2 in the Big West with a .429 field goal percentage and averaging a No. 6 ranked in the Big West 1.8 threes-per-game. Her total of 55 is also the fifth-highest in the Big West.
Together, Carter and Shah led a sharpshooting Cal Poly offense, providing constant threats from deep throughout the season.
They will carry their shooting momentum into the Big West Championships.
Cal Poly faces off against UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday March 12 at noon in the first round of the Championships for another Blue-Green Rivalry game.
