After splitting their first four games, the Cal Poly Beach Volleyball team bounced back at the Sun Devil Classic in Tempe, AZ on Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8.
The No. 6 ranked Mustangs (6-2) took on the University of Arizona (5-5) and Texas A&M – Corpus Christi (6-5, 2-0 Southland) on the first day of the tournament and Coastal Carolina (4-8, 1-1 Sun Belt) and No. 10 Arizona State (7-6) on the second day.
Cal Poly won all four matches, sweeping Texas A&M – Corpus Christi and Coastal Carolina and beating both University of Arizona and No. 10 Arizona State 4-1.
For the Mustangs, the new No. 1 and No. 2 pairings of senior Piper Ferch and sophomore Erin Inskeep and junior Izzy Martinez and sophomore Logan Walter went undefeated this weekend.
Ferch and Inskeep didn’t drop a single set, while Martinez and Walker dropped just one set against the Sun Devils.
Total, the Mustangs only dropped four sets all weekend, and three of those lost sets came against No. 10 Arizona State.
