Cal Poly has delayed the implementation of its seven-day paid parking program.

Transportation and Parking Services sent a university-wide email to students regarding the change this afternoon.

Originally set to take effect on Feb. 1, the program’s launch was postponed due to recent feedback, the email stated. No future start date has been announced, and the email indicated that further updates will be provided.

First announced on Jan. 8, the program will transition Cal Poly from five days of parking enforcement in long-term commuter spots to seven days. It will require anyone parking on campus during weekends to purchase a permit, ending the current policy of free weekend parking.

The university previously told Mustang News that the program is intended to help cover parking structure maintenance costs.

Some students expressed frustration after the initial program was announced.

This is a developing story, Mustang News will update as more information becomes available.
