Cal Poly released the 2026-28 academic catalog, its first official document detailing what course offerings and graduation requirements will look like when the university transitions to semesters.
The 2026-28 semester catalog will take effect next academic year as Cal Poly officially joins the rest of the California State University system in operating on semesters and is the first Cal Poly catalog not on the quarter system.

Cal Poly has been operating under a temporary four-year catalog cycle from 2022 to 2026, approved by the Academic Senate to reduce the workload on faculty and staff during the conversion.
In the 2022-26 catalog, there were limited edits, such as adding virtual course options, relaxing prerequisites and reapproving General Education (GE) and U.S. Cultural Pluralism courses. This cycle will expire once the semester catalog takes effect.
The new catalog outlines updated course structures, unit conversions and revised degree pathways for all colleges.
Cal Poly will return to an annual catalog review and renewal process, matching the systemwide standard used by most CSU campuses.
