Registering and casting a vote

Residents can check their registration status here and sign up to track their ballot to see when it is mailed, received and counted. County election officials have already begun mailing vote-by-mail ballots.

The last day to register to vote in this election is Oct. 30. Conditional, or same day, registration is available within 14 days of the election in person only at the County Elections Office or at a polling location, according to the county’s website.

There is a ballot drop-off box in the University Union open now until Election Day. It is open Monday through Friday from 6am to 12am and Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 12am.

The San Luis Obispo County Clerk-Recorder’s Office is also offering early voting, same-day voter registration, and a 24-hour ballot drop off location. Voters can mail ballots to the county’s elections officials. All ballots must be postmarked on or before election day and received by Nov. 11.

Follow the directions included with the Vote-by-Mail ballot. Voters should use black or dark blue ink pens or a #2 pencil and place ballot in the return envelope provided. The county will not count the ballot if there is no signature on the return envelope.
