Cal Poly Men’s Basketball released their 2024-25 schedule on Friday, Sept. 27 featuring 14 home games and 18 away games.
The schedule is highlighted by 15 teams that won 20 or more games last season and four that won their conference championships last season.
Saint Mary’s, Grambling State and Long Beach State all made the NCAA tournament last season and headline the schedule for the Mustangs.
After coming off a four-win season, first-year head coach Mike DeGeorge is tasked with rebuilding the program, starting with a home exhibition against Cal Tech on Friday, Oct. 25.
The Mustangs will start the regular season on the road on Nov. 5 against National Invitation Tournament (NIT) qualifiers at the University of San Francisco.
The Mustang’s official home opener is on Nov. 10 versus Menlo College.
Menlo, an NAIA school, went 19-9 last season and was led by Landon Seamen, who averaged 19.9 points per game a season ago.
Cal Poly will open Big West Conference play on the road against UC Davis on Dec. 5 before returning home two days later to play their conference home opener against CSUN.
This season, Cal Poly only returns six players as notable starters Kobe Sanders and Quentin Jones hit the transfer portal.
Sanders and Jones combined for 29.3 points per game last season, with Sanders as the third leading scorer in the Big West. Sanders transferred to the University of Nevada at Reno, while Jones is headed to Northern Illinois University.
The Mustangs, most notably, are returning graduate guard Jarred Hyder. Hyder averaged just over 10 points per game last season and will look to improve this year as the team’s primary offensive weapon.
Under new leadership, the team will look to rebound and record its first winning season since 2013.
