Morning on the Green – A Mustang Music Festival officially ends. Event staff begins cleanup of the area.
ZHU leaves stage early; block party disperses
8:45 a.m.
The off-campus block party came to an end due to strict law enforcement presence demanding students leave the area.
Meanwhile, the on-campus concert has nearly ended, with ZHU leaving the stage due to sound issues. The back half of the concert saw a significantly smaller crowd compared to the crowd chaos seen early this morning. One more student DJ is expected to join the stage before the concert ends.
In the first few minutes of ZHU’s act, a small fight broke out during the festival mosh pit, causing some attendees to leave. However, it was quickly resolved.
Most of the students have left the Lower Sports Complex.
‘You’re going the wrong way’: Police threaten arrest as off-campus block party grows
8 a.m.
Law enforcement is threatening arrest as an off-campus block party, located at the corner of Hathway Avenue and Kentucky Street, continues to grow. Students have also been spotted gathering along Longview Lane.
Crowds are leaving the on-campus music festival at rapid rates in direction of the block party. ZHU is now taking the stage.
7:45 a.m.
Hundreds of students are attempting to create a third block party at the corner of Hathway Avenue and Kentucky Street.
There was a prior attempt for a block party along Carpenter Street, but police on bikes and motorcycles dispersed crowds there. The police blockade along Hathway Avenue is still intact, the intersection of California Blvd. and Hathway Avenue currently has no crowds.
Meanwhile, large crowds of students are leaving the Lower Sports Complex as Galantis finishes his set. The concert beer garden is closed, as they ran out of beer.
Block party begins near Hathway Avenue despite packed on-campus concert
7 a.m.
Over 300 people have gathered on the corner of Hathway Avenue and Carpenter Street, as well as Bond Street. Police are arriving in rapid force, demanding students disperse and get out of the streets.
Meanwhile, the on-campus concert continues to grow in size as headliner Galantis performs. There is a steady flow of students going both in and out of the concert.
Hundreds flood into music festival
6:45 a.m.
Waves of students continue to flood the festival and bypass security. Mustang News estimates that 5,000 attendees are now present at the Lower Sports Complex.

6:35 a.m.
Police briefly closed the event to limit more attendees entering, but then reopened it, turning an exit lane into a new entrance. Crowds are chanting “Let us in,” as headliner, Galantis, takes the stage.
President Jeffrey Armstrong has appeared on site.
Crowds rush in
6:30 a.m.
Music has started once again at the now-packed music festival. While security has somewhat regained control of the crowds outside the festival, lines are long and continue to grow. Students are attempting to push through barricades to enter the festival, tension between attendees and officers is high.
Outside the festival, large crowds were spotted walking back toward Hathway Avenue from the concert and other houses.
6:25 a.m.
Music is playing once again.
6:20 a.m.
Police have arrived in force. They got the fences back under control, but not without extensive damage. They have closed off the entrance to the event. Meanwhile, all the students have piled in. Music is expected to restart in a few minutes.
6:10 a.m.
Morning on the Green just became overwhelmed. Crowds from the stand-by line bypassed security, the fences fell and police are calling for backup to control the situation. Authorities stopped the music and turned on field lights as security attempts to control the chaos.

6 a.m.
People are lining up for the beer garden which opens at 6 a.m.
The area in front of the stage is filling with students as Figroot, a student DJ, is performing an EDM set.
5:40 a.m.
The line to enter Morning on the Green – A Mustang Music Festival has grown.
5:20 a.m.
Student traffic is starting to pick up. The standby line is longer than the ticketed line. There are still not a lot of people at the Lower Sports Complex. Most people are interacting with the activities around the venue.
On-campus music festival and Hathway Avenue both remain quiet
5 a.m.
4 a.m.
The Lower Sports Complex is quiet in the early hours of Morning on the Green – A Mustang Music Festival. Event staff are completing sound checks. The student line to get in is slowly growing, yet still short.
Near Hathway Avenue, streets are quiet and police presence is in abundance. Both entrances to Hathway Avenue are blocked completely.
The St. Patrick’s Day celebrations have begun.
3:15 a.m.
Students are finding their way to the Lower Sports Complex for Morning on the Green – A Mustang Music Festival. The event was organized in partnership with the university and the City of San Luis Obispo.
Last year, St. Patrick’s Day celebrations saw a record high of $24,000 worth of damages in the Red Bricks residence halls. In response, the university has taken more precautions prior to celebrations.
