Local business owner Toney Breault was found dead in his hotel room Monday morning. He was 54. Breault owned F. McLintocks Saloon and Dining House, Frank’s Famous Hot Dogs and Buffalo Bar and Grill, all in San Luis Obispo.

Fire and EMS responded to a medical call Monday morning at Hotel Cerro downtown. Officers found and later identified the deceased male as Breault.

The cause of death is pending from the Coroner’s Office. Foul play is not suspected, according to San Luis Obispo Police Department spokesperson Christine Wallace.

He took over the businesses from his father, Bruce Breault, who first opened the steakhouse’s Pismo Beach location in 1973.

Breault’s death comes days after a SLOPD sting operation identified four minors who were served alcohol at McLintocks.

The business now faces potential fines, license suspension and permanent license revocation. It is unclear what will happen to Breault’s three SLO businesses following his death.
Downtown SLO plans to honor Breault at an upcoming Farmers’ Market, with the specific date to be announced, according to an Instagram post.
