Over $1 million was spent on this year’s St. Fratty’s day music festival Morning on the Green, a decrease from last year’s expenses.
The event, which was first held in March 2025 as an alternative to off-campus block parties, cost the university $1,167,157 last year, according to past Mustang News coverage.
This year, the event cost $1,007,334.30, with lower costs due to a smaller artist fee and reduced concert security expenses, according to University spokesperson Keegan Koberl.
The concert, which was attended by nearly 11,000 people, cost $597,668.84, a decrease from $657,657 in 2025, according to past Mustang News coverage.
An additional $49,257.72 was spent on concert security and $271,613.75 on campus security costs.
Other campus response costs, including Faculties Department service charges, food ordered from Cal Poly Partners, fencing from Fence Factory, SLO safe ride, and “several other support activities,” amounted to $88,794.08, according to Koberl.
The city of SLO spent over $100K to maintain security with the majority of money going towards overtime, equipment rentals, advertising, food, coffee, and hotel rooms.
Over 21 agencies from across California were brought in to enhance security on and around campus, according to past Mustang News coverage.
Discussions for how the university will address St. Fratty’s day next year are ongoing, Koberl wrote in an email to Mustang News.
