The Cal Poly Women’s Cross Country team made swift work of the field on Friday with a perfect score of 15 to take the team title at the Pacific Invitational.

A total of 11 women and four men traveled up north and competed for Cal Poly against runners from Pacific, Saint Mary’s and Sacramento State.

The Cal Poly women crushed the competition in the 6k race, taking the top five places and scoring a perfect 15 points for the first time since Oct. 17, 2015. Junior Melisse Djomby Enyawe secured the individual title with a time of 21:02.6.

Following right behind her was senior Lianna Guerra, taking second place. Junior Renae Searls, freshman Sydney Middleton and sophomore Avery Smith rounded out the top five in order.

For the Cal Poly men, freshman Kyle Jakary placed second in the 8k as the Mustangs’ fastest runner with a time of 24:57.7. 

Sophomore JR Lesher, junior Devin Ibarra and freshman Oliver Hunter placed third, fourth and sixth, respectively.

The Mustangs will be back in action in two weeks for their last meets of the regular season. The team will split up between the Arturo Barrios Invitational on Friday, Oct. 16, and the Bronco Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 17.
