The Cal Poly wrestling team fell to Northern Colorado and Wyoming over the weekend.

The Cal Poly wrestling team fell 19-17 to Northern Colorado in a non-conference dual meet on Sunday. Senior Britain Longmire fell 6-2 to Northern Colorado’s Trey Andrews in the final bout to give the Bears the victory.

The Mustangs (3-5) won four bouts on the day, including sophomore Devon Lotito’s takedown of Sonny Espinoza at 133 pounds. Lotito is 17-7 on the year.

Kyle Chené, Dominic Kastl and Nicolas Johnson also scored victories for the Mustangs. Kastl improved his record to 14-3 on the season.

Jan. 24 vs. Wyoming

The wrestling team dropped a 29-12 decision at Wyoming in a non-conference dual meet this past Friday night, despite strong performances by Devin Lotito and Dominic and Blake Kastl.

Lotito pinned Gunnar Woodburn to improve to 16-7 on the year. Lotito was ranked 19th in the nation by Intermat entering the match.

Blake Kastl, a redshirt freshman, improved his record for the season to an impressive 18-8 mark with a 7-4 decision over Jake Elliot at 149 pounds.

Dominic Kastl, ranked No. 20 this past week, won 6-1 over Brent Havlik at 174 pounds, earning takedowns in the first and second periods.

The Mustangs will host Oregon State for a Pac-12 dual meet outdoors in the University Union plaza this Thursday at 3 p.m.
