Cal Poly’s annual Poly Royal Rodeo will take place at Alex G. Spanos Stadium again from April 9-11, with more than 11,000 available seats – nearly four times last year’s attendance.
“For the past several years, we’ve been working toward returning to the larger stadium,” said university rodeo coach Ben Londo in the release. “Making this move back will not only enhance the experience for spectators but also give more supporters and fans the chance to watch our students perform.”

Poly Royal Rodeo is a three-day event that brings in college rodeo athletes throughout the West Coast to showcase their skills in events like bull riding, barrel racing, breakaway roping and steer wrestling, among others, according to a press release from the university last December.
The rodeo was previously held at Manfred Jean Sander Arena at the Cal Poly Rodeo grounds, where nearly 3,000 people attended the three-day event, the release reads.
The stadium had undergone “key upgrades” for the event following its relocation to Manfred Jean Sander Arena in 2022. Last year, the event sold out within minutes, according to previous Mustang News coverage.
