Two 20-year-old women were seriously injured in a hit and run just off campus on Thursday night, according to a city press release. Both were hospitalized with major but non-life threatening injuries.

Police arrested Ishan Pandhare, a junior electrical engineering major at Cal Poly and a facility supervisor, according to his now-deleted LinkedIn page. He was charged with two counts of felony hit and run with injury or death, the release said.

His first court date is Jan. 22 at 8 a.m., according to the jail booking log.

Thursday’s crash took place at approximately 9:30 p.m. on the 100 block of Crandall Way as the victims were crossing the street, directly adjacent to campus near the alumni center and ASI Children’s Center.

SLOPD located the suspect vehicle, a dark gray Tesla Model 3, based on information from eyewitnesses early Friday morning, and Pandhare was subsequently arrested. The vehicle was found on the 3000 block of McCollum Street, the release said.

The investigation is still ongoing, according to the press release.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
