Cal Poly Men’s Basketball is set to lose another top player during the offseason, as star guard Hamad Mousa will enter the transfer portal, according to DraftExpress.
Coming over as a transfer from Dayton, Mousa shined in his first season in the green and gold. He topped the Big West with 20.4 points per game on 37.2% shooting from three-point range en route to being named to the All-Big West First Team.
Mousa’s length on defense and scoring ability powered the Mustangs on both ends of the court. He was a finalist to the Riley Wallace award for the most impactful Division-I transfer and was an NABC All-Pacific second team member.
Mousa joins Cayden Ward and Peter Bandelj in the portal, the top three scorers from last year’s team are now all in the transfer portal.

Cal Poly Basketball has options to find their replacements either internally with Austin Goode, Guzman Vasilic or Jess Esso Essis as potential players to take a step up next season, or externally through the transfer portal or incoming freshman class.
Head Coach Mike DeGeorge has had success bringing talent in, Ward and Bandelj signed as freshmen and Mousa arrived through the transfer portal. As he heads into year three of his tenure, DeGeorge and his staff will have to repeat their success in scouting talent from years prior if they want to make it back to the Big West tournament.
