Marc Cabeliza, bioresource and agricultural engineering junior, was elected ASI President for the 2025–26 school year with 2,751 votes. A total of 6,167 students, 26% of the student body, cast their vote over the last two days.
ASI announced the results for the incoming president and board of directors at noon on Thursday at the University Union.
“It’s a privilege that the student body elected me to be the next president,” Cabeliza told Mustang News. “I hope you believe I can carry out the initiatives and represent you to the best of my ability. I really want to ensure that every student’s voice feels empowered.”
Cabeliza brings two years of ASI experience, currently serving as the University Union Advisory Board chair. His accomplishments include converting the University Union to be open 24/7 and increasing club funding. He plans to ensure current students feel prioritized during university-wide transitions.
“As a first-generation student, I know how important community is here,” Cabeliza told Mustang News on ASI’s Media Day. “I believe I’ve been able to find that, and I hope to be able to do that for all the students who go here.”
Cabeliza is a member of the Agricultural Engineering Society and a co-chair of the ASI Alumni Council.
“I am more than thrilled to see Marc as the next ASI president,” current ASI President Ashleigh Spragins said. “He knows how to represent our student body and will do a great job next year. He is going to find the right answers to represent students and do the right thing with his leadership.”
