Movie previews for 11/30

Awake:
If you’re looking to see a new movie this week in all theaters, this is your only choice. ‘Awake’ tells the story of a man who is awake but paralyzed during a surgery.

It has nothing good going for it: the director’s first film and a mostly terrible cast. But some have found it to be somewhat thrilling.

Protagonist:
Weird, creepy documentaries seem to be the way to go these days and ‘Protagonist’ is just that.

Following the stories of an ex-gay evangelist, the son of a Nazi and an abused child who robs banks, ‘Protagonist’ looks at how its ‘characters’ change and become someone else entirely.

The Savages:
Seeing Philip Seymour-Hoffman and Laura Linney in this indy-style “dramedy” is sure to be a great time – it’s too bad it has a limited release.

Critics are in love with ‘The Savages’ for its performances and compelling story. If it ever makes it to SLO, don’t miss the chance to experience great storytelling.
