Six new recruits set to join Cal Poly Women’s Basketball for upcoming season

Cal Poly Women’s Basketball has announced six incoming recruits joining the team for the 2024-25 season.  The Mustangs announced the signing of four incoming freshmen in November: Carmela Fontes, Ana Moleon Hidalgo, Nora Perez and Gabby Robinson. ‘Rise Up, Resist and Reclaim’: A look back at Sexual Assault Action Month

During April, Safer raised awareness for Sexual Assault Action Month, supported survivors and hosted a variety of resources and events. This included an open mic night, healing-centered yoga and a drag show, followed by Take Back the Night, an international survivor solidarity event. 

Safer hosted 18 events during the month, hoping to foster a sense of community for survivors, while allowing a safe space for conversations surrounding sexual violence, said Claire Lopez, Safer’s Campus Crisis Advocate. Lopez believes having spaces to process is important for Cal Poly and the greater San Luis Obispo area.

Cal Poly’s Internationalization Symposium hosts speaker Dr. Anu Taranath

The Cal Poly International Center (CPIC) is gearing up for the return of the Internationalization Symposium on May 15 and 16. This year, the event features Dr. Anu Taranath, speaker and author of “Beyond Guilt Trips: Mindful Travel in an Unequal World.” According to a CPIC event announcement, Dr. Anu will deliver a keynote presentation on May 15 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at the PAC Pavilion, delving into the intersections of travel, equity and social change. Wednesday’s presentation is open to students, staff, faculty and the broader community and will be followed by a book signing.
