A day's worth of democracy comes to Poly

There will be 24 exhibits and 24 different ways for Cal Poly students to see democracy – though not quite in 24 hours.

Democracy 24 will be on display in the Kennedy Library between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. today.

“It is 24 exhibits about how different Cal Poly students view democracy, modeled after a clock and the hours in the day,” liberal arts and engineering studies senior Justin Alvarez said.

If James Bond had a desk…

Six years ago, before liberal arts engineering studies senior Bill Trammel became a Cal Poly student, he had an epiphany while sitting at his mahogany desk at home. “What would this desk look like if Q from James Bond designed it?” he asked himself. He pictured a desk with a sliding screen, a finger print recognition system and video conferencing – all from his single, sedentary unit of space.

Studying abroad: a survival guide for Cal Poly students

Cal Poly English major Jonnie Reinhold was traveling on a train from Nice, France to Florence, Italy when suddenly the train stopped. After three hours at a standstill, the check-in time came and passed for the hostel she had previously booked. At 1 a.m., Reinhold and her companion found themselves off the train and on the empty, dark streets of Florence, Italy with no place to stay the night.

New projects on horizon for Poly pier

JOSH AYERS/MUSTANG DAILY Compared to others in the county, the Cal Poly Pier is a monster. A good monster though.
