After going the previous three seasons without a victory, the 2016 Cal Poly golf team took home their second title in under two months on Tuesday. The Mustangs prevailed at this week’s OGIO UCSB Intercollegiate, winning the event at Sandpiper Golf…
Two of the Mustangs’ best golfers, Jesse Yap and Jordan Wright, show off their skills.
Golf requires consistency and mental toughness. Jesse Yap, a member of the Cal Poly men’s golf team, has come to epitomize both of those qualities on and off the course. Born in Alabama and raised in Singapore, Yap committed to compulsory military training right out of high school and currently sports a 4.0 GPA in the College of Engineering. A vital member of this year’s squad, Yap sits second on the team in scoring average (72.9) and was key in the program’s first win in nearly three years ear
Cal Poly finished 20 strokes ahead of the next Big West Conference school, UC Irvine, this weekend.
Up against a premier field, Cal Poly’s men’s golf team shot their way to fifth-place in Hawaii.
Senior Jordan Wright led the way with a one under (-1) overall total and a tie for 24th place individually.
