Nearly seven decades after meeting as teenagers, Bruce and Sally Blackerby are still learning from each other.

The high school sweethearts, who married in 1957, have spent almost 70 years building a life together, raising four children, welcoming six grandchildren and navigating decades of change side by side. Now retired and living at The Villages in San Luis Obispo, they say their relationship has always been rooted in commitment and friendship.

The couple credits their opposite personalities for helping them maintain balance over the years, along with a shared understanding that marriage is a long-term promise.
