I have been reading lately that at just half past noon on July 8, something will happen that will only take place once over the course of a millennium. The moment is 12:34:56 on 7/8/9.
This brief second on Wednesday is already a buzz on Twitter, Facebook and Google. I’m waiting to see just how much (or how little) this story will be blown up. Besides blogs, will any news organization pick up the story?
Already, on various photography websites as well, groups are beginning to form in an effort to take and upload pictures of wherever you are at that specific moment in time.
To prove how inane this moment really is I ask: What if you live in Europe? It is known that Europeans write their date the opposite of their American counterparts. For them, I guess they will have to wait a month to celebrate on August 7th or their version of 7/8/9.
Interesting, nonetheless. See you all in 100 years when it will be 12:34:56 on 7/8/90. But perhaps if you can’t wait that long September 9th will be 09:09:09 on 09/09/09, a moment the whole world, and not just the United States, can celebrate together at once. Cheers.
