Former Cal Poly RA Alexis Alejandro, 25, was sentenced to seven years and four months in state prison yesterday after admitting to breaking into a Poly Canyon Village apartment on Sept. 7, 2024, according to court documents.
Alejandro was convicted of two felonies for attempted assault with intent to rape and first-degree residential burglary. He was ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

The survivor is referred to as a confidential victim by the court to protect her privacy. She gave a written victim impact statement that was read at the sentencing hearing yesterday.
“I have recovered from the bruises that were caused by the physical struggle with [Alejandro], but there are still things I struggle with everyday,” she wrote. She explained the assault still affects her day-to-day life and continues to impact those close to her.
“While [the survivor] may never forget the night of Sept. 7, 2024, when Alexis Alejandro broke into her apartment, she will move forward from this and she will go on to lead a happy and fulfilling life,” Deputy District Attorney Kristin Barnard said during her comments at the hearing.
Alejandro admitted to three factors of aggravation: the victim of his crimes was particularly vulnerable; the matter of the crimes indicated planning, sophistication or professionalism; and he exploited a position of trust. These factors are used by a judge to support greater sentences.
Alejandro initially pleaded not guilty during his first court appearance after his arrest on Sept. 19, 2024 by the Cal Poly Police Department. He will appear in court on April 23 for a restitution status determination.
