Cal Poly Baseball stayed undefeated in midweek games on Monday, taking down Fresno State by a final of 13-5 at Bob Bennett Stadium.

This win over the Bulldogs (12-16, 5-4 Mountain West) marks the Mustangs’ (19-8, 9-0 Big West) 11th straight road victory.

Big West-leading Cal Poly tallied 21 hits in the win, tying a season-high from their 20-run outburst against Seton Hall.

Senior outfielder Zach Daudet continued to swing a hot bat, notching his third and fourth home runs of the year. The senior infielder has 11 hits in the last four games and now ranks second in the Big West in batting average with a .410 clip.

Junior catcher Jack Collins hit his 10th home run of the season as part of a three-hit effort from the Mustangs’ backstop. Ten big flies are good for a first-place tie atop the Big West leaderboard.

The other Cal Poly home run on the day came from freshman shortstop Nate Castellon, the first of his collegiate career. Castellon, known as a bat-to-ball hitter, showed some power potential in Monday’s win. Castellon went 4-for-5 in the win.

Senior centerfielder Casey Murray Jr. also turned in a nice game at the plate, reaching base all five times at the plate. Murray Jr. has been a nice breakout for the Mustangs this year, going 3-3 with two walks.

On the pitching side, manager Larry Lee used his bullpen to cover all nine innings. Freshman Luke Kalfsbeek got the start but was unable to record an out. Sophomore left-hander Josh Morano covered five innings, giving up only one run.

The pitching staff allowed 13 hits yet only five runs came from them, as the arms for the Mustangs were able to strand runners all evening.

Cal Poly will now return home to Baggett Stadium for a three-game series against UC San Diego, starting Friday, April 4 at 6 p.m.

The Mustangs will look to stay undefeated in conference play this upcoming weekend and remain the only team unbeaten in Big West play this year.
