Just months after Cal Poly Football alum Elijah Ponder appeared in Super Bowl LX for the New England Patriots, another Mustang will be making the jump to the NFL.
Wide receiver Michael Briscoe is signing as an undrafted free agent with the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.
Briscoe was the main receiving threat for Cal Poly this past season, leading the team in every receiving category, including seven touchdowns. In 10 games, Briscoe totaled 779 receiving yards, passing the 100 yard mark in three games.
Briscoe’s most productive day came against Western Oregon, where the redshirt senior caught six passes for 148 yards and four touchdowns. Briscoe garnered All-Big Sky Honorable Mention honors in 2025.
Briscoe played in parts of five seasons in the green and white, but injuries riddled the first three years of his college career, playing only 15 games total in that span.
In his redshirt junior and senior seasons, Briscoe was on the field and productive, showcasing what the injuries were holding back. The Vacaville native finished his career with 1,765 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. His touchdown total ranks 10th in the program’s long history.
Briscoe will now head to Seattle to compete for a roster spot, just as Ponder did in New England a year ago. Briscoe is a part of seven UDFA’s that the Seahawks signed, bringing their roster number to the allowed 90 players during the offseason. Typically one to two UDFA’s from each team make the roster, with the rest having the option to sign to the team’s practice squad.
Should he make the cut, Briscoe would make it two years in a row that a Cal Poly player makes an NFL team’s 53-man roster after signing as a UDFA.
