For the second straight year, the Big West baseball champions reside in San Luis Obispo. The Mustangs defeated the No. 3-seeded UC San Diego Tritons 4-3 on Sunday to claim the title and punch their ticket to an NCAA regional.

A strong start from freshman Corden Pettey, paired with a three-run home run from Dylan Kordic, propelled the Mustangs to the win. After falling to the Tritons in a blowout on Saturday, the Mustangs bounced back in the winner-take-all matchup on Sunday afternoon at Cicerone Field.

Cal Poly awaits their regional assignment, which will be released on Monday morning. Last season, the Mustangs went to Eugene, Ore., and finished second in the group to Arizona.

This is the ninth overall conference championship for Cal Poly, and their first back-to-back titles since 1993-94. It is also their first time appearing in consecutive NCAA regionals since 2013-14.
