Cal Poly Women’s Soccer finished conference road play with a 1-0 victory over UC San Diego at Triton Stadium.

The Mustangs took the lead early when junior forward Isis Salazar-Ortega earned a foul in the penalty box four minutes in. Junior midfielder Miah Thomas converted the penalty, putting Cal Poly ahead with her sixth goal of the season.

Cal Poly maintained their lead with strong defensive play. In the 86th minute, UC San Diego received a late penalty kick after a foul, but junior goalkeeper Shannon Porubski dived the correct way to make a game-saving stop. Porubski finished with three saves, securing her third clean sheet of the season.

With the victory, Cal Poly moves to 5-4-3 overall and 2-1-1 in Big West Play, putting them in a three-way tie for fourth place in the conference standings.

Cal Poly will return home to Spanos Stadium next Saturday, Oct. 10, against Utah Valley.
