letter to the editor

On Wednesday, as I was sitting down to enjoy a quick lunch in the atrium of the Avenue, a black bird flew straight into the tall glass pane right next to my table. It stuck the glass with a loud thud and fell straight to the ground.

After recovering from my initial shock, I reported the incident to staff at the typically busy cafeteria. Soon there after a gentleman — I believe the manager — was seen outside picking up the bird off the sidewalk and placing it in a carton.

I don’t know what became of the poor bird, but I want to acknowledge my appreciation for the gentleman’s kind act. Perhaps something can be done to the glass pane to prevent such incidents in the future?
