Mustangs get 16 hits, win for fifth time in six games

Thanks to some hot bats and a couple of stellar performances out of the bullpen, the Cal Poly baseball team picked up its third-straight win Tuesday night, defeating Fresno State 10-7 at Baggett Stadium, bringing their record to 14-18 on the season.

Sophomore shortstop Kyle Smith led the Mustangs’ offensive charge, producing his first career four-hit game, with three singles and a double.

Welcome to the neighborhood

San Luis Obispo is a lot like a dysfunctional Thanksgiving dinner: Rowdy relatives from around the country migrate to the home of a generous family member, drink to excess, drive their host crazy and leave a trail of destruction in their wake. Only in this case, the city’s long-term residents play the gracious host, while the role of the drunken uncle defecating on the front lawn is more than adequately filled by students.

Reading other people's love letters

It’s inside of all of us. It’s the guilty desire to turn down the TV when the neighbors are arguing. Or the tiny voice that urges us to go ahead and sneak a quick glance at the old love letter left on the counter by a significant other. We figure if we weren’t supposed to read it, it wouldn’t have been left in such an obvious place.
