The Cal Poly women’s tennis team’s bid for a championship came to an end during the semifinal phase on Saturday afternoon, as the 63rd-ranked Mustangs dropped a 4-2 decision against the 45th-ranked 49ers at Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

Distracted driver hits power pole on Foothill Blvd.
Richard Scheidle, 22, was driving westbound on Foothill Blvd. approaching Casa St. while texting on his cell phone. His Toyota Camry left the roadway and collided with a PG&E power pole on the north sidewalk next to Mustang Village Apartments.
Suspect arrested for bomb threats to local schools
San Luis Obispo police officers arrested Charles Edward Rose, 45 of Santa Maria, this morning. He is suspected of calling 911 and falsely reporting planting bombs in local unidentified schools.

Cal Poly women’s tennis player Brittany Blalock was named Big West Conference Athlete of the Week for second time this season on Wednesday afternoon after prevailing during both of her singles matches and a pair of doubles victories last week.
