Poly shows its green and gold

 Parents’ Weekend will be held the Friday and Saturday this Homecoming weekend. Tickets for the hike to the Cal Poly P, the Mustang Corral BBQ, the wine tasting and the Homecoming game are sold out, but there will be some free events happening Friday. For questions, information or assistance with reservations, contact the Parent Program’s information line at 756-6700.

It's been a busy few years

Too much has happened in the last few years (let alone the last 90) for us to squeeze it all onto one page. So we took a scattering of some of the biggest stories to rock Cal Poly.

Who could forget Scott Peterson, the Cal Poly alum who was sentenced to death for killing his wife Laci (also a Poly grad) and their unborn son?

In better news, the Cal Poly football team reached the NCAA 1-AA playoffs for the first time ever last fall.

SLO church graffitied

The San Luis Obispo Police Department is investigating a felony vandalism, which included graffiti and broken lights, that occurred at the Calvary Baptist Church early Wednesday morning.

A police department press release stated that “the vandalism was extensive and involved the spray painting of derogatory comments on a number of walls and buildings on the property.

Fall festivities dot SLO County this weekend

If you’re not a big football person, don’t fret. There are plenty of better things to do in San Luis Obispo County this weekend than obsess over the Horseshoe Classic.

Morro Bay is celebrating its 25th annual Harbor Festival with two days of events. Saturday and Sunday will be jam-packed with activities like the Sand Sculpture Spectacular, Farmers’ Market, beer tastings, an oyster eating contest, the California Seafood Faire and Wine Tasting, a chowder contest and a kids’ carnival with a bounce house and dunk tank.

SLO offers ways to relieve stress

With dining plans, housing arrangements, class schedules, tuition fee and classes, it’s no mystery why college students are so stressed out all the time. But before you reach the burn-out zone, there are many ways to relieve the stress right around town.

Instead of lying out on Pismo Beach, try an afternoon at Pirate’s Cove.
