When he was 15, Hamad Mousa left his hometown of Doha, Qatar, to chase his dream of playing college basketball and eventually reach the NBA.

After three years at Australia’s NBA Academy, Mousa took the next step in his journey by enrolling at the University of Dayton. But his first year didn’t go as planned, leading him to enter the transfer portal. Mousa found Cal Poly — and it paid off.

He’s now leading the Big West in scoring and representing his country as one of only two Qatari players to reach the NCAA Division I level.
