Cal Poly Women’s Golf climbed five spots on the leaderboard on the final day to finish fifth at the Route 66 Invitational. In their final tournament before a long break, the team posted its best season finish at the Par-72 Golf Club of Oklahoma in Broken Arrow.
After posting +17 and +14 on the first two rounds on Monday, the Mustangs put together the second-best team round of the day at five-over to finish at +36.
Senior Sarah Torres and freshman Ashley Gettleman posted their best rounds of the tournament on the final day, each shooting an even-par 72 to help the team close out strong.
Individually, Torres and sophomore Maddy Saysanasongkham led Cal Poly. Both Mustangs finished tied for 14th place at six-over through 54 holes. Torres opened with a two-over 74, a 76 in the second round and closed with a 72. Saysanasongkham, coming off of a career-best third-place finish just a week ago, posted rounds of 76, 72 and 74.
Senior Sarah Yoo was the next best individual finisher for Cal Poly, tying for 32nd at 11-over. Gettleman finished tied for 45th at 14-over, and freshman Lexi Lowe tied for 56th at +17.
The women’s fall season is officially closed, with the next tournament action starting back up on Feb. 1 at the Paradise Invitational. With a long break ahead, the Mustangs can learn from a successful first half of the 2026-27 season, which included two top-10 team finishes and multiple top-20 individual finishes.
