Cal Poly students preparing for final exams will soon have around-the-clock access to the Kennedy Library.

According to an Instagram post by the ASI President Marc Cabeliza, all five floors of the Kennedy Library will remain open 24/7 from June 1 until June 11 to provide students with additional study space during finals week.

Students say the decision comes at an important time in the quarter.

Oliver Ridge, an architectural engineering freshman, said the extended hours are “much needed.”

“A lot of students use the space to study,” Ridge said. “I don’t think there’s a lot of 24-hour, or even just late, options on campus in general. So I think it’s a very good decision.”

Currently, only select areas of the Kennedy Library are open all night, including a few study spaces on Levels 1 and 2. Other campus locations, such as the University Union, also offer extended hours throughout the academic year.

Aerospace engineering sophomore, Yusuf Kothambawala said he first learned about the change via Instagram and believes the added hours will be beneficial to students who study late into the night.

He also hopes the library considers expanding hours for other occasions in the future.

“If we could get it extended to other finals and maybe midterm season as well, that’d be good,” he said.

Weekly schedules for the Kennedy Library can be found on their website.
