Cal Poly Women’s Soccer (3-3-2) closed out non-conference play Saturday with a 2-0 loss to Seattle University at Championship Field.
The Mustangs struggled to generate consistent offensive pressure early, with Seattle controlling much of the first half.
Seattle scored both of its goals in the first half, with the Redhawks (6-3-2) finding the back of the net in the 27th and 41st minutes.
Cal Poly senior forward Annika Smith had an opportunity to answer Seattle’s first strike just four minutes later, but Seattle’s goalkeeper redirected the shot.
The Mustangs entered the second half trailing 2-0. Seattle recorded 10 shots in the first half compared to Cal Poly’s three.
Cal Poly increased its offensive pressure after halftime, recording six shots, but was unable to find the back of the net.
Defensively, junior goalkeeper Shannon Porubski recorded four saves in the match.
The loss concluded non-conference play and the Mustangs ‘ four-game road stretch, which also included a win over Pacific and draws against San Diego and Cal.
The Mustangs now turn their attention to a Big West conference that has three new members for the 2026 season: Cal Baptist, Sacramento State and Utah Valley.
Cal Poly’s first conference opponent will be newcomer Cal Baptist. The Lancers enter the Big West after competing in the Western Athletic Conference and appearing in the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
Cal Poly returns home Wednesday to host Cal Baptist at 6 p.m. in Spanos Stadium to kick off conference play.
