Cal Poly athletes will not be participating in the USA Track and Field indoor meet this weekend in Boston, Mustangs head coach Terry Crawford said this week.

High jumper Sharon Day will be resting and pentathlon competitor Danielle Ayers-Stamper is on hold for the season with an ankle stress fracture.

“I am on crutches until mid-March,” Ayers-Stamper said. “It’s funny how you think a season is going to go until a curve-ball is thrown at you, but I’ll be OK. Hopefully, I can stay in somewhat of shape for the jumps and throws and try to compete at (Big West) conference in May for the team.”

Most recent action from the two include Day’s second-place finish in the high jump at the Husky Classic hosted by Washington on Feb. 10 and 11 with a mark of 1.79 meters, along with a first-place finish in the 400 meters at 58.41 seconds.

The two also traveled to University of New Mexico on Jan. 26 to compete in the DeHart Invite and the Roger Cox Multis. Day finished second with 1.78 meters at the high jump. Ayers-Stamper took fifth place in the indoor pentathlon, standing out with her top mark in the high jump, 1.70 meters.
