In a pair of Great West Football Conference games Saturday, No. 9 Cal Poly defeated No. 12 North Dakota State 37-6 at Mustang Stadium, while South Dakota State edged UC Davis 16-14 in Sioux Falls, S.D. Northern Colorado and Southern Utah had byes.

This Saturday’s schedule includes just one Great West Football Conference game. Southern Utah (0-4, 0-0) at UC Davis (2-3, 0-1). The remaining four Great West Football Conference members, North Dakota State (4-2, 0-1), Cal Poly (5-1, 3-0), South Dakota State (3-3, 1-1) and Northern Colorado (2-3, 0-1), all have byes this week.

Garnett, a senior from Seaside, Calif., threw a season-high three touchdown passes in Cal Poly’s win over North Dakota State.

The senior completed 11 of 16 passes for 166 yards, including scoring strikes of 63 yards to Tredale Tolver, 16 yards to Ramses Barden and three yards to Adam George, all in the second quarter as the Mustangs built a 27-0 halftime lead.

McCall not only led South Dakota State in tackles with 11, but he made two of the biggest plays in the Jackrabbits’ win over UC Davis. McCall broke up a two-point conversion attempt by UC Davis with 2:05 to play, preserving SDSU’s 16-14 lead, and had an interception, returned 13 yards, to set up SDSU’s lone touchdown drive. He also broke up two passes.

Douglass kicked three field goals and an extra point in South Dakota State’s victory over UC Davis. His middle field goal was a school-record 54-yarder.

Earlier in the game, he connected from 55 yards, but the play was nullified by a holding penalty after which he just missed from 65 yards. Douglass’ other noteworthy kicks were from 38 and 32 yards.
