A heat wave and advisory was issued in San Luis Obispo County. It will start at 10 a.m. Thursday and end at 8 p.m. Friday. Temperatures of 85 to 95 are expected, 20 to 30 degrees higher than typical temperatures for this time of year, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). 

According to The Weather Channel hot weather is expected to continue into next week, with temperatures in the mid-80s. 

The heat wave advisory will affect San Luis Obispo County and parts of Santa Barbara County. 

The hottest March on record in the past 80 years was 2017, where the average daily high temperature was 73.2, according to Extreme Weather Watch. Historically, San Luis Obispo reaches temperatures in the high 60s or low 70s in March.

This week is forecasted to be sunny and clear, according to NWS

The NWS recommended drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room, staying out of the sun and checking up on relatives and neighbors. 

NWS also recommended taking extra precautions when outside, wearing lightweight and loose fitting clothing and limiting strenuous activities to early morning or evening. They also recommended taking action in the case of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
