Within California, voters favored Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris by 60.2% and former President Donald Trump held 37.4% voter support at 9:36 p.m., according to results from Decision Desk HQ

Election watch parties on campus varying from Cal Poly’s Turning Point USA and Cal Poly Democrats Club expressed their thoughts on the election before the results.

“We’re just getting started,” TPUSA chapter president Madison Pierce said. “I think everyone’s happy to have a space to relax and hang out with friends and not have the pressure of having someone with opposite views. [We] create a space that’s positive and happy. Everyone’s excited that we have a space for that and excited to watch everything go down.”

On Tuesday night, Cal Poly Democrats Club watch-party attendee Tess Ferral shared her thoughts on the presidential race.

“Honestly it is very stressful but I’m also very excited,” Ferral said.

Ferral described the watch party as “tense but hopeful.”
