Cal poly is dropping 4,000 more tickets for its St. Patrick’s Day music festival after 10,000 sold out yesterday for the initial release. The venue capacity is 14,000 and these will be the final tickets available.
Cal Poly will release 2,000 more tickets for the “Morning on the Green” concert at 4 p.m. Thursday for any unregistered students. Friday at 4 p.m., 2,000 additional guest tickets will drop, available to reserve for non students, according to Ryan Gruss, the assistant vice president of the performing arts, events and campus engagements.
Those who currently hold tickets for Morning on the Green are permitted to reserve a second ticket, Gruss said. Tickets for the festival are non-transferrable and cannot be resold.
Last year, only 5,000 students were able to receive tickets for Morning on the Green. The concert faced crowd surges and security failures. The capacity was doubled to accommodate more students, and the new tickets will increase capacity to nearly triple.
This year’s festival, which is being headlined by Australian DJ Odd Mob and the electronic dance music group Walker & Royce, will be the second annual Morning on the Green taking place on St. Patrick’s Day at the Lower Sports Complex.

Cal Poly created Morning on the Green to deter students from partaking in the block party that takes place every year on the same weekend as the festival. The university coordinates law enforcement and security with the City of San Luis Obispo.
Prior to the creation of the festival, the 2024 St. Patrick’s Day block party led to several noise violations and arrests of Cal Poly students by SLOPD, along with reports of vandalism and property damage.
