Cal Poly Volleyball kept its winning streak alive with a sweep of UC San Diego on Saturday night.

This victory brought their winning streak to 12 games, protected their undefeated conference play record and added to the team’s best conference start since 2017.

The match started contested, with 16 ties in the first set, but the Mustangs (16-6, 12-0) claimed the set 25-21.

The Mustang defense was crucial in securing the win as they held the Tritons (10-13, 6-6) to under .100% in overall hitting percentage.

Junior middle blocker Chloe Leluge spearheaded the front-row defense, recording nine of the team’s season-high 15 blocks.

Junior setter Alexis Haury led the back-row defense with 12 digs, helping the Mustangs out-dig the Tritons 47 -47.

While the first two sets were close, the Mustangs secured the win in the third set, 25-14.

Cal Poly’s offense fired on all cylinders, posting a .458 hitting percentage in the third set.

Cal Poly currently ranks No. 6 in the nation in hitting percentage at .293.

They exceeded their average with an overall hitting percentage of .298 against the Tritons.

Senior outside hitter Emma Fredrick led the team with 18 kills, doubling UC San Diego’s top hitter’s number.

While the Mustang offense and defense worked in tandem, they managed only one ace, their season-low.

The Mustangs look to continue their undefeated conference play as they take on Long Beach State on Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. in Mott Athletics Center.
