How have your ears been doing this summer? In need of some unplanned riffs, live verses or perhaps the inter-song stage banter of a live band? As the summer comes to a close, shows throughout the Central Coast are here to cure the blues.
Nederlander Concerts is putting on sets of shows at Vina Robles in Paso Robles and the Santa Barbara Bowl. The outdoor amphitheater at Vina Robles rests approximately 30 minutes outside San Luis Obispo at the Vina Robles winery and vineyard, while the Santa Barbara Bowl provides one of the most genuine views of the coast, along with the attraction of the surrounding woods.
“The history and natural setting at the Santa Barbara Bowl and the pristine grounds and intimacy of Vina Robles create two very unique experiences for patrons and artists,” Jessica Puchli of Nederlander Concerts said.
Vina Robles will host Dirty Heads and Pepper with Aer and Katastro on Aug. 10 to feed the hunger of alternative reggae listeners. The venue will also hold the Under the Sun tour, featuring Sugar Ray, Smash Mouth, Blues Traveler and Uncle Kracker for the tour’s second-to-last stop on Aug. 13. Dwight Yoakam will close out the summer shows on Aug. 24 with his pioneered country music. Weezer will hit the stage on Sept. 12.
In addition, the Santa Barbara Bowl will host Slightly Stoopid with Cypress Hill and Stephen Marley to please those seeking laidback vibes on the Central Coast. The Bowl has a number of notable shows lined up for early fall, including Jack Johnson on Aug. 30 and Sept. 1 and Crosby, Stills and Nash on Sept. 20.
“We obviously encourage all ages and musical demographics to come to our shows,” Puchli said. “We appeal to different groups throughout our season.”
This season proves to hold nothing less, hosting everything from the timeless rock of Smash Mouth to the spiced up reggae of Dirty Heads.
