Wrestling wraps up nonconference, gears for Pac-10

While most Cal Poly students were enjoying their three weeks away from the rigors of school, the wrestling team made trips to Nevada and Illinois for tournaments, as well as taking on three colleges in a quadrangle meet.

Wrestling adds Tyrel Todd as assistant coach

Tyrel Todd, a three-time NCAA All-American and the 2009 Big Ten Conference champion at 197 pounds while wrestling at Michigan, has been hired as an assistant wrestling coach at Cal Poly, co-head coaches John Azevedo and Mark Perry announced Monday.

Chase Pami takes second in NCAA championships

Chase Pami became the sixth NCAA wrestling runner-up in Cal Poly history at the recent NCAA championships. Pami competed in the 157-pound weight class and was the lowest seeded wrestler to advance to the finals in any weight class this year.

Wrestling places third at Pac-10 championships

Boris Novachkov captured the Pacific-10 Conference Championship at 133 pounds, four other Mustangs finished second as Cal Poly settled for a third-place team finish Saturday night.
