1. Greek life off probation after passing party registration policy

The wait for passing a greek party registration policy came to an end Wednesday afternoon, according to a press release from university spokesperson Matt Lazier. The administration approved the policy after fraternities and sororities agreed to it.

The five rugby players allegedly involved with with a recent assault had their suspensions lifted, Matt Lazier said. However, the university investigation is still ongoing and if incriminating evidence is found the players will wind up on probation again.

3. Administration looks into reports of fraternity parties

There have been three reports of fraternity parties taking place while greek life was on social probation, and Dean of Students Jean DeCosta is “looking into” the events. “We are meeting with greek leaders of those chapters to determine the degree of which that information is accurate,” DeCosta said.

4. The culture shock: diversity of applicants and enrollees

The numbers of minorities are rising at Cal Poly as more students attend the university and its PolyCultural weekend. Underrepresented minorities in freshman applicants have increasd to 30.8 percent of the applicant pool.

5. Triathlon Team fundraiser to help SLO Food Bank

Lovers and singles alike will participate in the 14th annual Hearts and Soles Run triathlon fundraiser held Valentine’s Day weekend at Cal Poly.
