In matching its best-ever performance at the Big West Conference Championships, the Cal Poly women’s golf team finished fourth amongst six teams Tuesday at the Tijeras Creek Golf Course in Mission Viejo.
The Mustangs, who also came in fourth in 2001 and 2006, shot a four-person 319 total in the final round to finish with a 77-over-par 941 total.
Both Maddy Fletcher and Elsie Walker paced Cal Poly by tying in 11th with 18-over-par 234 totals.
Also coming in the top 20 on behalf of the Mustangs were Julia Heath, whose 237 total landed her in a 15th-place draw, and Hannah Brabb, who carded a 239 to tie for 20th.
Stephanie Yocum rounded out Cal Poly’s scoring by tying for 26th with a 248.
Heath was named to the all-conference second team, while Brabb earned an honorable mention.
UC Irvine, whose Kim Lorenzana was the individual champion with a six-over-par 222 aggregate, won the overall title with a 908 total.
The NCAA West Regional will be held at the Lincoln Hills Golf Club from May 8-10.
