Tara Phillips had some good advise about volunteering and doing things that interest you while you’re still in college. Students attending Cal Poly in the relatively isolated town of San Luis Obispo have become very resourceful and innovative about doing things they care about and have fun doing them! If there is something you’re interested in pursuing after you graduate, there is probably a club or activity already doing it on campus that will welcome you to get involved. And if you feel out-of-place or isolated when you arrive on campus (and many of us were), getting involved doing something you like with other students will help a lot.
