Yes, my friends. That sad day has come — a day which will live in infamy. Today, I unveil my last Mustang Daily masterpiece before I go off and become famous somewhere.
I understand that a handful of readers will not miss my column nor my mere existence on campus. But these are the folks I will miss the most as I pass the baton. I thank these people for giving me a good laugh with their humorously inane comments and rants.
I’d also like to thank the English Department at Cal Poly for providing me with the critical thinking skills necessary to dissolve the left’s arguments. I know you’ve gotten a lot of heat lately from my critics, but you have truly formed me into the conservative writer that I am today. It pains me that you have been so unjustly “victimized” as a result of my own brilliance. But I digress.
Before I sign off, I would like to leave you all with my own tenets of awesomeness. Call them what you wish (Conservative Commandments, Rules for the Right Road, etc.), but I hope they will be your bread and butter as you take advantage of your Cal Poly education and post-Poly lives.
1) Keep exposing the corruption and silliness of the left, and you will always find enough evidence. The facts are in your favor, and common sense is on your side.
2) Stand up for what’s right: Conservative values are hard to come by in the grand marketplace of ideas, especially as we are inundated with repetitive liberal “goobers.” Don’t ever get intimidated, as there are always more conservatives out there than you think, and “independents” are still the majority among your peers. Don’t be silenced.
3) Always make sure “the man” is held accountable. Whether it’s Cal Poly administration or the government, take a closer look (especially when your own money is on the line).
4) The world is not out to get you, regardless of your race, ethnicity, orientation, etc. This is America, and we have come a long way since the old days. Prejudice and discrimination still exist, but these factors are small bumps in the road. On the other hand, there is no cure for stupidity, which is the ultimate path to regression. This is the land of opportunity.
Parting is such sweet sorrow. I hope that we all come out of this a little wiser and that we can get over this separation like mature adults. I know you probably won’t find another writer like me, but that’s the price we must pay for greatness. There is still so much we need to say to each other. However, if you have access to explosives, please refrain from sending me any “fan mail” as we turn this page.
Lastly, I’d like to conclude by giving a shoutout to some of my most dedicated supporters: “Spicy Mexican Salsa,” “anonamous” (sic) and “monkeymug” — your voices will always prevail — unless, of course, your comments get censored or my articles get removed from the Web.
To everyone, enjoy your time at Cal Poly and don’t forget to continue stirring things up after I leave. Just don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.
Stay classy, Cal Poly.

Adios, fellow conservative warrior. It has been a fun ride and I have no doubt that we have not heard the last of you yet.Your shoes will be very hard to fill as you have been a very strong commanding presence and inspiration to many who read your articles.
You are a triple threat to the liberal establishment for three reasons. First, because you have had the opportunity to be instructed by some of the most brainwashed and misinformed leftist today, this has allowed you to have front row seats into their complete mindset.
Secondly, you have been honed to perfection to stand alone in the face of enormous opposition. The weekly (and sometimes daily) verbal assaults that you have submitted to, have only served to make you brighter, bolder and stronger as a journalist and as a person. I know for myself that liberals bring out my fearlessness, wit, my razor sharp tongue, and my spicy Mexican side like no one else can.
Lastly, what sets you apart from all the rest is that you write from the heart and that for better or for worse, you connect with your audience. This is where Brendan Pringle shines best and brightest. Your honesty and insight jumps out at us in all your work. This is a liberal’s worst nightmare as they specialize in bullshit politics.
Your fellow conservatives will miss you because we love you and because we know you are one in a million. Those on the other side will miss you because you challenged their shallow , puny little minds and because you ruffled their feathers with sheer abandon.Good luck to you in all that you do. Wherever you end up, they will be very lucky to have you.
And as for this spicy Mexican salsa, I would like to challenge those liberal burros that like to be led by the chain and be told what to do and how to think, to take a leaf from this guys book and learn how to stand alone , think independently from the rest and to get some huevos and not let your vote be purchased or pandered to.Most of all, do not let your conscience and values be dictated to by every caprice that our liberal culture demands.Stand strong!!! Hasta la vista baby!!!
As someone who immigrated to America as a teenager and lived in low-income neighborhoods, attends cal poly, and become naturalized citizen, I can personally attest to that prejudice and discrimination are NOT “small bumps in the road” even today. And that is the point some of your commentators tried to point out in your posts earlier. And no, I am not a “brainwashed and misinformed leftist”.
Maybe you aren’t, Jess (brainwashed…), but you don’t know what mountains and valleys (aka obstacles) really are in the world. Why did you(r parents) come here? (I doubt that it was because of brainwashing and misinformation.) So, was it because they desired some really difficult obstacles for you to overcome in order to build character in you, or was it because they wanted an easier, better life for you, along with the hope of building character as well? Perhaps they should have stayed a little longer before joining us; for your sake, of course, not theirs.
The moon is a spec compared to the size of the sun, yet consider the ability of the moon to eclipse the light of the sun at times. So it is with people of little character; due to ‘whatever’, they tend to eclipse the greater glory of a good by focusing on things inferior.
So because her parents came from a worse place to America, she has no right to object to her treatment in America? She should have stayed in that worse place longer so that she wouldn’t so easily see the flaws in America?
The Mustang Daily has featured perhaps one of the best writers to come out of Cal Poly. This premier conservative author will not be forgotten, in fact, we will be hearing great things of him on any future projects he decides to tackle. Talent such as displayed by Mr. Pringle in his columns is indeed rare. The liberal media should take notice!
Rujenat2
I agree with you Ruj, and I am confident that Mr. Pringle will make sure that the liberal media will indeed take notice, and I am looking forward to that; where and when he becomes famous somewhere else.
Why do I feel like this entire column series was one big troll?
That would actually be quite brilliant.
I don’t know why you feel like that either, Cer; would you like to talk about how you feel? I believe that you too are capable of brilliance, but you first must understand your feelings. Feelings, for instance, lead to unwanted pregnancies and abortions; ‘what was I thinkings’. Don’t trust your feelings, and don’t believe [it] just because it feels right; do your homework.
You didn’t address what Ceranna said, only a single word he or she said which was a part of a larger statement. I would try harder if I were you.
Let’s put some definitions down, so that way I can clarify my statement:
definition of troll: “In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion. The noun troll may refer to the provocative message itself, as in: “That was an excellent troll you posted.”
While the word troll and its associated verb trolling are associated with Internet discourse, media attention in recent years has made such labels subjective, with trolling describing intentionally provocative actions and harassment outside of an online context. For example, mass media has used troll to describe “a person who defaces Internet tribute sites with the aim of causing grief to families”
Let’s summarize:’inflammatory”, “intentionally provocative”
Uh yep, that sounds like BP
Nothing new here, move along trolls as there is no thinking required here.
As does your comment attest to, anyway. And I agree; move along, please, nothing to see here, move along, please. Baaaa.
Your articles were full of attempts to insult the left side. Instead, your incorrect facts, stereotypical judgements, and ridiculous opinions made you simply look childish. To end your Cal Poly career with such a conceited article just proves how unprofessional you are as a journalist. If your articles had interesting information about both the left and right sides I may have actually taken you more seriously. Good luck in the real world. I hope you don’t have to enjoy “mama’s meatloaf” for too long.
Your comment here belies your not taking Mr. Pringles writings seriously, CPL; don’t you know? It’s a Fruedian thing, I believe; to put someone down whom you esteem and feel (oops, there are those persistant feelings again) inferior to.
It’s really a lot more complex than a “Freudian” thing, if you know what you’re talking about. ANd I think you’re making an assumption about this ‘Freudian thing’, since CPL never expressed esteem towards Pringle.
Welcome Brendan Pringle to the ranks of the Cal Poly – SLO Alumni.
Here, here!
Well, Robert, I certainly have enjoyed your writes (and, of course, the opportunities given me by so many of your readers). I’ll miss them here at this level of the maturation process where so many of us who have gone before have believed that we knew the end from the beginning, only to find out later the folly we made. I trust that your writes have had some positive influence at directing some of your classmates in the ‘right’ direction, and I want to thank you for that. You deserve to be thanked for that. Thank you! And remember, cold butter softens quickly by spreading it along the inside perimeter of your plate prior to attempting to spread it on your bread. ;0)
Remember, y’all, decisions determine destinations, and relying on feelings to direct decisions isn’t the best compass available to reach the best destination available.
Robert? Well, that sure was weird, Brendan. What can I say; have I blown my cover? I call my sister by my daughter’s name sometimes, and my daughter by my sister’s as well. Is there something Freudian about that? :0)
Congrats on a thought provoking column; and good luck in the outside world!
“The world is not out to get you, regardless of your race, ethnicity, orientation, etc. This is America, and we have come a long way since the old days. Prejudice and discrimination still exist, but these factors are small bumps in the road.”
People of minority races, ethnicities, orientations, and sexual identities are reassured, now that Mr. Pringle has informed us all that the things we complain about, that he doesn’t have to worry about on a day to day basis, ‘just isn’t a big deal’.
Perfect way to end your column, Pringle. I hope that in the future you come to realize how much ignorance, denial, and misinformation you have spread to the Cal Poly masses. Until then, good luck.
Thanks for the well wishes!
No worries Pringle, Pedro, the homeless guy on that random street corner on Higuera has volunteered to take your place. He says, “Hey I can’t do worse.”
I appreciate your unwavering postion politically and wish you well on your next adventure. However, I found this article, your last “masterpiece”, to be swimming in logical fallacies regarding the “Left”. Putting your arrogance aside, the whole thing is about how right the “Right” is and how “corrupted” and “inane” the “Left” is. By name-calling the “Left” “repetitive liberal ‘goobers'”, you fail to really prove your point that Conservatives, as you believe, are more intelligent. Your accusation comes off elementary and loses ground because of it –it just sounds immature. Additionally, you utilize straw man regarding your view of the “Left”. You ignore the actual Liberal view and substitute your own exaggerated, distorted, and ridiculous version of that position. So, once again, neither side proves cabale of working together. They would rather sit and point fingers at how silly the other position seems. Once again, I do wish you all the luck and success in your next endeavor.
