University Police (UPD) said Cal Poly has been hit hard since May 1 by a spike in bicycle thefts on campus. Now, they are searching for tips leading to a suspect.

On May 5, a person was caught on video early in the morning stealing a bicycle on campus. UPD said the suspect may be connected to other recent bike thefts.

While UPD could not provide the exact number of stolen bikes as of publication date, there have been 17 reported thefts since May 1, according to the UPD activity log. One reported theft involved a stolen car.

Students who have any information about the person in the photo can contact UPD directly at 805-756-2281 or police@calpoly.edu.
